 CVST Speedo Swimmer of the Month Award At the end of each month, one member of the team may or may not be selected as the Swimmer of the Month. The award is based on that swimmer's meet performances for the month of the award. That swimmer will receive an award in recognition of their performance and their picture will be placed on the CVST website. This award is sponsored by Speedo. |

December 2007 - Chase Mayer
The CVST Coaching Staff has selected Chase Mayer (12) of the CVST Senior 2 Practice Group as the December 2007 CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month. Chase earned the distinction based on his performances at the 2007 Florida Swimming B Championships and CAT Jingle Bell Meet, both held at the Long Center, in Clearwater. At the B Championships, Chase swam to three best times in three events and then a week later at the Jingle Bell Meet, he went seven best times, including a 39+ second drop in the 500 Freestyle. Congratulations Chase and keep dropping those times!
November 2007 - Valerie Lindsey
Today, the CVST Coaching Staff named Valerie Lindsey (13) of the CVST Silver-Gold Practice Group as the recipient of the November 2007 Speedo Swimmer of the Month Award. Valerie earned the award based on her November practice efforts and her swim meet performance at the CVST Invitational, where she swam to six best times, dropped almost 15 seconds across all of her swims and also swam her first 200 in the Senior Age Group. Congratulations Valerie and keep up the efforts!
October 2007 - Jessi Glossenger
The CVST Coaching Staff has named Jessi Glossenger (12) of the CVST Silver-Gold Practice Group as the October 2007 CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month. Jessi, new to CVST this Fall has come a long way in a short period of time as is evident by her continued improvement in the pool. Although she only swam in one meet during the month of October she went five for five best times at CVST's October Friday Night at the Races and dropped 32.36 seconds. Congratulations Jessi and keep up the great efforts!
September 2007 - Julia Docobo
Earlier today, the CVST Coaching Staff announced Julia Docobo (9) of the CVST Silver-Gold Practice Group as the September 2007 CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month. Julia earned the award through great meet performances during the month of September. She swam in both the CVST September Friday Night at the Races and the SPA Fall Invitational. Over the course of the two meets, Julia dropped 59.37 seconds and went best times in 10 of the 11 events she swam over the month. Congratulations Julia and Keep up the great efforts!
August 2007 - Stephen Sheridan
CVST's Stephen Sheridan (18) of the Senior 1 practice group was named the CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month for August 2007, following his performances at the USA Swimming Southern Zone Age Group Championships, where he swam as a member of the Florida Swimming All-Star Zone Team. Stephen had a great meet going life-time best times in 9 out of 10 swims, swimming the lead off leg of the Gold Medal winning 200 Freestyle Relay and picking up his first ever USA Swimming Junior National Qualifying Times. Stephen made the cut in the 50 Freestyle and picked up the Bonus Event cut in the 100 Butterfly. Great job Stephen, and keep it up in St. Louis this Fall!!!
July 2007 - Michelle McClendon
The CVST Coaching Staff has named nine year old Michelle McClendon of the Bronze Practice Group, the CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month for July 2007. This award comes to Michelle after a great month of meets where she improved both in her practices as well as in meets. At her first meet of the month, the BSAC Last Chance Meet, Michelle swam two best times and built on her efforts from there. In the next meet, the CVST July Friday Night at the Races, she went five for five best times and at the final meet of the summer, the Florida Swimming Area 3&5 Championships, she went one better going six for six best times. That's a tot of 13 Life-time bests and 20.96 seconds dropped. Congratulations Michelle and keep up the efforts this fall!!!!
June 2007 - Maria Zambito
CVST's Maria Zambito (11) of the CVST Silver/Gold Practice Group has been selected, by the CVST Coaching Staff, as the CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month for June 2007. Maria receives the award based on her meet performances during the month of June. At the first meet in June, CVST's own Tampa Bay Swim Classic, she swam a total of ten events where she went all best times. Next up was the PCL Championship Meet, where Maria swam two events and went two best times. Her third meet of the month was the WFLA Summer Invite, where she continued to shine swimming six events and going five best times. The final meet of the month for Maria was CVST's June Friday Night at the Races where she picked up two more best times. That's 19 life times bests for the month and a tot al of :29.70 seconds dropped over the month! Congratulations Maria and keep up the hard work!!
May 2007 - Gina Mayer
The CVST Coaching Staff has named Regina Mayer (17) of the CVST Senior 1 Practice Group the CVST/Speedo May 2007 Swimmer of the Month. Regina earned the award based on her performance at the 2007 USA Swimming 5K Open Water National Championships, held in Ft. Myers, where she finished 16th in the nation. Congratulations Gina and keep up the great efforts!
April 2007 - Stephen Sheridan
Stephen Sheridan (18) of the CVST Senior 1 Practice Group has been named the 2007 CVST/Speedo April Swimmer of the Month. The CVST Coaching Staff selected Stephen after his tremendous performance at the Speedo Boys & Girls Club National Championships. At the meet, he went eight for eight best times, broke the Boys & Girls Club National Record in the 200 Freestyle (previously held by CVST Alum Grant Nelson) and took home the Senior Boys Individual High Point Trophy. Congratulations on the dominating performance and keep up the great work Stephen!
March 2007 - Sullivan Lynch
The CVST/Speedo March 2007 Swimmer of the Month is Sullivan Lynch (17). The CVST Coaching Staff selected Sullivan based on his performances at the Florida Swimming Senior Circuit Championships and the NCSA Junior National Championships. At the Senior Circuit Championships, he set a new CVST Team Record in the 200 meter Individual Medley, went five best times and made his first USA Swimming National Championship Qualifying Time, in the 50 Freestyle. At the Junior National Meet, he went three best times and broke the Team Record in the 200 yard Butterfly. Congratulations Sully on a great job!
February 2007 - Charlie Whitaker
The CVST Coaching Staff has selected Charlie Whitaker (14) of the CVST Senior 2 Practice Group as the February 2007 CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month. Charlie earned the award based on his performance at the CAT Last Chance Meet, where he went eight for eight best times, including a 20+ second drop in the 500 Freestyle. He also made five cuts for the Speedo Boys & Girls Club Nationals at the meet. Way to go Charlie and keep up the great work!
January 2007 - Erica LaVoy
The CVST/Speedo Swimmer of the Month for January 2007 is Erica LaVoy (14) of the CVST Senior 2 Practice Group. The CVST Coaching Staff selected Erica based on her performance at the CAT Winter Open, where she swam eight events and went eight best times, and the GCST Internet Distance Meet where she swam the 3000 Freestyle and went her best time at the 1650 by over 20 seconds. Her total dropped time for the month was whopping :57:11 seconds. Congratulations and keep up the great swimming Erica!
