CVST SR 1 Holiday Training Trip -
CHICAGO ’09
This year’s Holiday Training Trip
was to Chicago, where we swam at Marmion Academy, in Wayne’s
World (Aurora, Illinois). Marmion is a Private Catholic Boys
Military Academy and my former High School. It is also where
my father taught and coached for 30+ years. It has a 8 lane,
25 yard pool which we will be using for practice, and obviously it
is indoors. You can check the school out at www.marmion.org.
We stayed at the Comfort Suites, while in
Aurora, which is about fifteen minutes from the pool, much nicer
than some of the hotels we have stayed at on previous Training
Trips. It is located next door to the train station, which
was convenient for a train trip into the city. You can check the
hotel out at www.comfortsuitesaurora.com.
While in Chicago/Aurora the group went
sledding, visited the city, including Michigan Avenue and the
Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place and the Historic Chicago Water
Tower, The Willis (Sears) Tower Sky Deck and The Edge and walked
miles of city streets. The Group also went to The Museum of
Science and Industry and Brookfield Zoo and hit all of the Chicago
Style food establishments including Giordano's for Stuffed Pizza,
Portillo's for Chicago Hot Dogs, White Castle for late night
burgers and Pappa G's for Italian Beef
Sandwiches!
And by the way, the group did get some
swimming in while on the
trip...
Below are a few group pictures from the
