More Pool Records Fall at TYCC Dual Meet

CVST hosted the Tampa Yacht & Country Club (TYCC) at their second home meet of the PCL Season last night, and the Pool Records continued to fall.  Once again, it was Rikke Bukh (12), Chase Mayer (12) and Nichole McClendon (8) who picked up new pool records.  Bukh, swimming in her last meet as an 11-12 year old, picked up the 11-12 Girls 50 Freestyle Pool Record.  Mayer nabbed the 11-12 Boys 50 Breaststroke Pool Record and McClendon snagged up both the 7-8 Girls 25 Freestyle and 25 Breaststroke Pool Records.

Congratulations to all of our CVST swimmers on a job well done.  For all of CVST's Results from the meet, Click Here.

CVST Golf Tournament & Reunion Dinner Postponed

CVST's 2nd Golf Tournament and Reunion Dinner is being postponed.  Due to the low number of registrations received by last Friday's deadline, the only thing we could do is cancel the events.  Unfortunately the Team had to give Emerald Greens a guaranteed number for both the Golf and Dinner by Saturday and the numbers received were not up to the minimum required.  All those sending in their checks will be contacted and registrations will be returned.  We will try again in the future, but may separate the two events.  Look for another try at the Golf Tournament possibly this fall and as for the Reunion, we will try to hold it some time in the future on a weekend versus a Monday evening.

Anyone still interested in still coming by the Emerald Greens Pool from 3:00-6:00pm on Saturday, May 10th, for a Family Swim and Social, is still invited.  The Oasis Grill will be open for refreshments and everyone can enjoy the Pool and the Splash Pad.  (Please be aware that the Oasis Grill does not accept cash, only Emerald Greens Club Charge and Credit Cards.)

If you plan to stop by on Saturday, and are not a member of Emerald Green, please send me an e-mail to CVSwimTeam@aol.com and let me know who will be attending so I can leave your names at the Recreation Center Desk.

Mayer's "Code Blue" Team Wins!

The Annual CVST Blue/Green Meet was another close one, but in the end, Captain Gina Mayer and her "Code Blue" Blue Team came away with the victory outdistancing Captain Katie Westbrook and her Green Team "Gators" 726.00 points to 676.00 Points.  It was a good meet with some great swims and some new New Blue/Green Meet RecordsChase Mayer (12) of the Green Team tapped new meet records in all four of the events he swam.  He picked up records in the 11-12 Boys 50 Backstroke, 50 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle and the 100 Individual Medley.  James Brock (10) of the Blue Team picked up the 10 & Under 100 Individual Medley Record.  Also under the previous record in the 10&Under Boys 100 IM was Sammy Khmarin (10), who also picked up the his own record in the 50 Breaststroke.  The final record breaker of the meet was Rikke Bukh (12) who picked up three Meet Records in the 11-12 Girls age group, including 50 Breaststroke, 50 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley.  Congratulations to both teams and for all of the results from the meet, Click Here.

Blue/Green Psych Sheet Now Posted

The Team Captains (Gina Mayer - Blue Team & Katie Westbrook - Green Team) have turned in their entries and they have all been place in the computer for the 19th Annual CVST Blue/Green Meet, to be held this Saturday at the Emerald Greens Pool.  That means that you can now go to the Blue/Green Meet Web Page and check out your team's entries and the Psych Sheet to see where you stack up and who your competition will be in all your races.  It looks to be a close meet based on a quick perusal of the Psych Sheet, so it is imperative that everyone shows up for the meet, or your absence could and most likely will cost your team the meet and the Team Championship T-Shirt.  The meet also looks pretty fast, with a number of entries well below the current Meet Record, so you might want to check that out too.

Remember, everyone needs to be at the pool and ready to get in the water for warm-up at 8:00 am, please don't be late as this is not fair to your Captains who will be trying to get your warm-up organized and also get in a warm-up themselves.  Parents also please be available to help out with the timing of the meet.  This meet is a fully sanctioned USA Swimming Meet, so we will need to run it just like the Boys & Girls Club Meet.

Finally, don't forget that the Blue/Green Team Practices are today and tomorrow with the Blue Team practicing from 4:30-5:30 pm and the Green Team from 5:30-6:30 pm today, Thursday and reversing the schedule tomorrow with the Green Team practicing from 4:30-5:30 pm and the Blue Team practicing from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Good Luck to Both Teams & Swim Fast This Saturday!!!!!

Captains Re-Draft Blue/Green Meet Teams

The 19th Annual CVST Blue/Green Meet Draft had to be re-done today due to a computer program glitch which placed some swimmers in the wrong age groups for the first draft.  Gina Mayer (Blue Team) and Katie Westbrook (Green Team) have re-drafted the teams and the correct teams are listed below and on the CVST Blue/Green Meet Web Page.  As everyone should already know, this year's meet is being held the this Saturday, April 26th.  Warm-ups will be at 8:00 am and the meet will begin at 9:00 am.

There are also two days of special "Team Practices"  leading up to the meet.  The first day is this Thursday, April 24, with the Blue Team practicing from 4:30-5:30 pm and the Green Team from 5:30-6:30 pm.  The second day is Friday, April 25, with the schedules reversed and the Green Team practicing from 4:30-5:30 pm and the Blue Team practicing from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Please be aware that it is imperative for all swimmers on both teams be present for the meet.  Because of the nature of the meet, and the scoring procedure, one missing person on either team can affect the final team scoring and cost a team the meet and the Champions T-Shirts!  Also, If you will be missing either  of the two special "Team Practices" Please let your Team Captain know before hand.

Parents, as this is a real "Sanctioned USA Swimming Meet", just like the Boys & Girls Club Nationals, we will also need your help with the timing, scoring and officiating at this event.  Thanks in advance for all of your help.

CVST Has Great Boys & Girls Club Meet

CVST held the 2008 Speedo Boys & Girls Club National Championships, this past weekend at St. Petersburg's Northshore Pool and had a great meet both in and out of the water! On the "Dry Side" the team was led by our first year Meet Directors, Jill Cappadoro and Nancy Westbrook, who did a fantastic job organizing and running the event.  Thanks to both for a great job!  Thanks also to all of the other CVST Parents, Alumni and friends of the program who helped to pull the whole thing off, including our Hospitality, Concessions, Officials, Timers, Awards, and all of the other workers we had at the meet.  There were nothing but compliments from all of the other team's Coaches.

On the "Wet Side" CVST had a great meet in the pool!  Led by Gina Mayer (18), who is the new National Champion in the Senior Girls 1650 Freestyle and picked up a New Boys & Girls Club National Record along the way, and Rikke Bukh (12) who picked up the Second Place High Point Trophy for the 11-12 Girls and was national Champion in four events: the 11-12 Girls 200 IM, 50 Breaststroke, and the 50 & 100 Butterfly.  In all, CVST had a ton of great swims including 162 best times.  Congratulations to all or our swimmers who participated in the meet!!!
